Hi Folks, Well, we are back from our lovely break in Edinburgh - and it was SO nice!! We decided that since it wasn`t our actual wedding anniversary(not till next month) that we wouldn`t mention having our honeymoon there almost 38 years ago. However, it seems our older son had other ideas, so when we checked in, we found our room was one of the front ones, with a huge bay window facing across to the castle, with lovely comfy chairs, coffee table, flat-screen TV etc. It was brilliant! Then when we went to dinner on Monday night, there was a complimentary bottle of wine for us! Damian phoned later that evening to ask if the room was OK, and confessed to his little scheme. Mind you, we were brought back to earth when our waitress told us she wasn`t even born 38 years ago! The German market was lovely, and the Christmas lights on Princes Street were beautiful. We had the best view in the hotel & enjoyed the people-watching too. We found a wonderful, authentic tapas bar for lunch on Tuesday, which I would thoroughly recommend to anyone going to Edinburgh. The trains there & back ran on time, & it was even sunny! Eleanor : no trams yet on Princes St. - just buses & taxis, though the tram lines are in place. Jean - I brought you a lovely sequinned tam-o`-shanter which I think will look very fetching on you at Stringfellow`s. Take care all, Kathleen x

Hi Kathleen,
Did you get my tartan tassels?
I'm so glad you had such a lovely time in Edinburgh, and well done to your son for getting you some special attention! Ian and I have some lovely romantic memories of Edinburgh, it was the first place we visited together. I would love to go at christmas time to see the lights.
Love, Doreen xx

Hi Doreen, Yes, of course I got your tassels - the biggest ones I could find. They have glitter attached to them too, as I know you like your glitter. The lights were really nice - little silver ones on all the trees, & a big gold-lit tree on the slope below the castle. There`s an open-air skating rink in the Gardens too - thought Jean might enjoy a twirl on that!! Kathleen x

Thanks Kathleen, Mary will be green with envy!
It all sounds so lovely, I can just imagine it. You've made me decide we must go back for a visit soon. I presume you will have had a twirl on the skating rink?

Of course! You should have seen my triple salchow - everyone gasped when I executed that with such precision, and as for my pirouette....................... I`m thinking of doing the Winter Olympics, if I can just get the funding. Kathleen x

So glad you had such a great break, Kathleen. Your son is obviously a star - that is such a thoughtful thing to do.
Can't wait to see the tam o'shanter. I think it will look quite splendid with the elf costume and pointy toed boots. As for your triple salchow- wow - that I MUST see!
Lots of lovexxxxxx

I'm glad you had such a lovely break. We went there last year, and really enjoyed it. We went on the train, and it was lovely, the train went along the Northumberland coast.

I'm so glad that you had such a lovely time Kathleen. Well done that son! How good having such a special expensive view! What about missing Stringfellows on Hogmonay and going there for the new year party? Do you know when the trams are starting Kathleen?
Congratulations on that anniversary! How many years ?
